Nigerians Protest on Democracy Day, Demand Economic Relief

As Nigerians celebrated Democracy Day on June 12, some citizens took to the streets in protest against the current state of the country.

In Lagos State, demonstrators gathered in Ikeja to voice their discontent over hunger and economic hardship. They called for the removal of President Bola Tinubu's administration, citing the severe economic challenges faced by Nigerians. Protesters held placards with messages such as, “President Tinubu, let the poor breathe,” and “Reverse all anti-people, neoliberal policies of privatization.”

One protester shared on X, “We called for it and we are on the street in Ikeja Under Bridge. The tyrannical and oppressive government of @officialABAT must be shown the way out. We are hungry and angry. #WeAreHungryProtest #June12Protest.”

Similarly, in Abuja, protesters gathered under the Berger Bridge to express their dissatisfaction with the Tinubu administration.
