Dismissed: Police Corporal Found Guilty of Killing Businessman in Aba

Police Corporal Obagi Njok, who fatally shot Aba-based businessman Emmanuel Okocha, has been dismissed from the police force. The Abia State Police Command set up a disciplinary team to investigate the incident and found Njok guilty.

Okocha, a well-known businessman from Abiriba in Ohafia LGA, was shot by Corporal Njok in Aba in April 2024, leading to his death. The dismissal of the police officer was announced in a statement signed by ASP Maureen Chinaka, spokesperson for the Abia State Police Command.

The statement condemned any acts of misconduct and indiscipline among officers in the command and emphasized that the investigation involved the deceased's family and relevant stakeholders.

"Police Corporal Obagi Njok (as he was then) was found guilty of discreditable conduct, specifically misuse of firearms, and has therefore been dismissed from the Nigerian Police Force," the statement said.

It also noted that the investigation into the criminal aspects of Njok's conduct has been concluded and the case has been handed over to the office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Abia State for prosecution.
