NPA's Export Efficiency Boost: Truck Entry Time Cut by 40% for Port Access

 After extensive consultations with stakeholders in the maritime sector, the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has unveiled a new export policy aimed at streamlining the entry process for trucks carrying export cargoes. This policy entails reducing the entry time into the port by 40%, from 72 hours to 48 hours.

In a notice addressed to stakeholders, the NPA, in collaboration with Transit Truck Parks Limited, known as 'ETO', announced the implementation of the revised policy governing the time threshold for export truck access to the port.

The decision to shorten the time allowance for export truck access was informed by a noticeable improvement in the movement of export trucks into the port. This reduction aims to further enhance trade efficiency.

Part of the notice stated: "We write to inform you of a revision of the policy governing the time threshold for export truck access to the port after leaving an Export Processing Terminal, EPT. Following a comprehensive review and wide consultation with exporters, the Nigerian Ports Authority has reduced the time allowance from 72 hours to 48 hours."

The revised policy will take effect in mid-June of this year. Stakeholders within the ecosystem are urged to take note of this update and adjust their operations accordingly to ensure smooth and efficient movement of export trucks to the port.
