PDP Campaign Chief Warns Voting APC Will Lead to More Poverty in Edo State

The Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign council for the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, Mathew Iduoriyemkewen, has warned that voting for the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a vote for increased poverty.

Speaking on Friday in Benin at the inauguration of the Deputy Director-General of the party’s campaign council on religious organizations and cultural affairs, Osagie Erhunmwunse, Iduoriyemkewen emphasized, "A vote for the APC is a vote for more poverty. They lack any effective plan for governance."

He urged, "We must unite to eliminate poverty in Nigeria, starting with Edo State. Edo has the human capacity to lead this change. We cannot allow the current suffering to persist. Our political efforts are a fight for the survival of Edo's people."

Osagie Erhunmwunse, in his acceptance speech, highlighted that his appointment reflects the PDP's recognition of Edo State's diverse religions and the party's commitment beyond just governance. He praised the party’s candidate, Barrister Asue Ighodalo, and his running mate, Barrister Osarodion Ogie, as competent and reliable leaders.

“These men are well-acquainted with the economic and political challenges of Edo State. Promoting their candidacy fills us with enthusiasm because we firmly believe in them,” Erhunmwunse said.

PDP Chairman in Edo State, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, described this segment of the campaign council as crucial, given its close daily interaction with the people. He urged, "Join hands with the PDP to alleviate the suffering in our land by voting for our candidate."
