Stanley Ovemureye has allegedly committed a heinous crime by killing his six-year-old daughter, Abigail Stanley, reportedly for money rituals in Uviama New Layout, Agbarho community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to reports, Ovemureye fled the scene after brutally smashing his daughter's head.
The tragic incident occurred on June 15th, sending shockwaves through the community.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the distressing event in a statement issued on Sunday.
Edafe disclosed that the Agbarho Divisional Police Officer recovered the lifeless body of the young girl, whose head bore severe injuries from being smashed against a wall.
"The deceased's body was recovered and transferred to the mortuary. The father, identified as the primary suspect, is currently on the run."
In response to the appalling crime, Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, has ordered a comprehensive search for the fugitive suspect.
CP Olufemi has assured the public that every effort will be made to apprehend the perpetrator and ensure justice prevails.
He urged anyone with relevant information leading to the suspect's arrest to contact the Control Room at 0803684974 or report to the nearest police station immediately.
