Arrests Made in Connection with Foolio’s Murder as Authorities Unveil Details

Authorities in Jacksonville have arrested three individuals in connection with the tragic shooting death of rapper Foolio, whose real name was Charles Jones II. Foolio, who was celebrating his 26th birthday in Tampa, was killed in the early hours of June 23. The shooting occurred in the parking lot of a Holiday Inn, leaving three others injured.

The Tampa Police Department reported that they received a 911 call about the incident at 4:40 a.m. The investigation revealed that Foolio had been posting his location on social media throughout the night. Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw noted that security footage showed the suspects tracking Foolio from one location to another before the shooting.

According to Chief Bercaw, at 4:15 a.m., the suspects followed Foolio to the Holiday Inn but waited across the street. At 4:38 a.m., three armed individuals exited a vehicle, armed with a handgun and two rifles, and proceeded to the hotel parking lot where Foolio was fatally shot. The attack resulted in injuries to three others who fortunately survived.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has arrested Sean Gathright, 18, Alicia Andrews, 21, and Isaiah Chance Jr., 21, all of whom face charges of first-degree murder. Warrants have also been issued for two additional suspects, Davion Murphy, 27, and Rashard Murphy, 30, who will also be charged with first-degree murder. Chief Bercaw identified Gathright, Davion Murphy, and Rashard Murphy as the primary shooters, all affiliated with rival gangs "ATK" and "1200," which are opposed to Foolio’s "6 block" gang.

The investigation has revealed that the ATK and 1200 gangs allegedly collaborated to target Foolio. Hillsborough County State Attorney Suzy Lopez described the planning of Foolio's murder as "truly alarming" and warned that all five defendants face life sentences in Florida state prison, including those who did not directly fire the weapons.

When asked about the involvement of Jacksonville rapper Yungeen Ace, leader of the ATK gang, Sheriff Waters confirmed that there is no current investigation into him. However, Waters emphasized that Ace’s movements within Jacksonville are closely monitored.

The case continues to unfold as authorities work to address the violence linked to gang rivalries and ensure justice for Foolio and the injured parties.
