Biden Vows to Run for Reelection Amidst Growing Pressure from Democrats

U.S. President Joe Biden has resolutely declared his intention to run for reelection, dismissing increasing pressure from his Democratic Party to step down following a poor debate performance against Donald Trump.

“I am running. I am the leader of the Democratic Party. No one is pushing me out,” Biden stated, according to a top aide who shared his comment on the X social media platform.

Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris made a surprise appearance on a Democratic National Committee call, according to three individuals familiar with the matter who spoke anonymously to discuss the private conversation.

These sources described the appearance as a motivational talk, emphasizing the importance of the upcoming election and echoing Biden’s earlier post-debate remarks about resilience and determination.

Amidst this, Biden faces internal dissent as 25 Democrats are reportedly preparing to urge the 81-year-old president to step aside following his lackluster debate against Trump.

A House Democratic aide mentioned that at least 25 Democratic House members are poised to call for Biden to withdraw if he continues to appear unsteady. Another House Democratic aide noted that moderate Democrats in competitive districts, often referred to as 'frontliners,' are being inundated with questions from their constituents this week.
