Breaking News: South Korea Advances Laser Weapon Production

South Korea has commenced the large-scale manufacturing of an affordable laser weapon system following successful tests in which it effectively neutralized small drones, announced the country's Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) on Thursday.

Known as Block-I, this cutting-edge laser system is designed to accurately target and eliminate small unmanned aerial vehicles and multicopters at close proximity, DAPA's press release revealed.

The cost-effective technology, estimated to fire each shot at approximately $1.50, marks a significant advancement in defense capabilities against low-cost drone threats. The system, depicted in agency-provided images resembling a shipping container-sized structure with a mounted laser and tracking apparatus, operates stealthily and without audible noise, relying solely on electricity supply.

Measuring 9 meters in length, 3 meters in width, and 3 meters in height, the Block-I emits laser beams that are exceedingly difficult to detect before impact, positioning it as a pivotal asset in modern warfare dynamics.

"This development represents a pivotal moment as we prepare for future iterations capable of neutralizing larger targets, potentially reshaping defense strategies worldwide," emphasized DAPA.

South Korea emerges as the first nation to publicly commit to deploying mass-produced laser weaponry, underscoring its leadership in military innovation.
