Donald Trump Slams Paris 2024 Olympics Opening Ceremony as a 'Disgrace'

Former President Donald Trump has harshly criticized the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics, calling it a "disgrace." The controversial event featured a performance with drag queens, a transgender model, and a singer dressed as the Greek god of wine, which included a depiction of Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting, "The Last Supper." This portrayal, depicting the moment Jesus Christ announced an apostle's betrayal, has sparked backlash from various religious groups.

In an interview with Fox News, Trump expressed his disapproval, stating, "I thought that the opening ceremony was a disgrace, actually. I thought it was a disgrace." He further commented on future Olympic ceremonies, saying, "We won't be having a Last Supper as portrayed the way they portrayed it the other night."

Trump emphasized his belief in being open-minded but maintained that the depiction was unacceptable. His remarks suggest a strong stance against the use of religious imagery in such a context.

Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., also voiced his criticism, labeling the ceremony as "satanic." On social media platform X, he referenced his mother’s Olympic involvement and expressed his discontent with the modern portrayal of Olympic ceremonies. He lamented that current events have become less appealing compared to past games.

In response to the controversy, Paris 2024 organizer Anne Descamps issued an apology to Catholics and other Christian communities who found the religious depiction offensive.
