Elon Musk Denies $45 Million Monthly Donation Claim for Trump Campaign

Elon Musk has dismissed reports that he pledged $45 million a month to support Donald Trump's presidential campaign, despite his involvement with a new political action committee (PAC) aimed at aiding the Republican candidate.

In a recent interview on his platform, X, Musk refuted the claims, stating, "What’s been reported in the media is simply not true. I am not donating $45 million a month to Trump."

The figure was first reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing sources familiar with the matter. Musk did confirm the creation of the America PAC, a super PAC designed to support Trump through independent efforts like advertising and operational expenses. Unlike traditional PACs, super PACs can amass unlimited funds but do not contribute directly to campaigns.

Donors to America PAC include tech industry figures such as Ken Howery, Antonio Gracias, Sequoia Capital’s Shuan Maguire, and the Winklevoss twins. The PAC is led by Joe Lonsdale, a venture capitalist and co-founder of Palantir, who is known to be close to Musk.

Musk clarified that America PAC is intended to be nonpartisan and not affiliated with the "MAGA" movement. He prefers the slogan "Make America Greater," reflecting his emphasis on core American values.

He also mentioned his departure from the Democratic Party, noting that his values—such as meritocracy and minimal government intervention—are better represented by the Republican Party. Musk praised Trump's resilience following an attempted assassination on July 13, viewing it as a sign of strength that could deter America’s adversaries.
