Former APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary Timi Frank Issues Caution to Senate President Akpabio

Timi Frank has issued a stern warning to Senate President Godswill Akpabio following controversial comments that could potentially incite public unrest akin to events in Kenya. Frank's statement on Monday reacted to Akpabio's recent remarks endorsing anticipatory approval for President Bola Tinubu's acquisition of a new presidential aircraft worth billions of Naira.

Frank emphasized the parliamentary duty to oversee and balance governmental powers, criticizing Akpabio for sidestepping this role and encouraging executive decisions without regard for taxpayers' economic burdens.

He condemned Akpabio's rhetoric as undermining democracy, disrespecting Nigerians, and trivializing the National Assembly's integrity. Frank urged Akpabio to uphold constitutional responsibilities by meticulously scrutinizing financial bills to curb wasteful spending, rather than endorsing premature executive proposals.

Regarding aircraft safety, Frank highlighted the importance of regular maintenance over age, questioning the utilization of N214 billion allocated since 1999 for the Presidential Fleet's upkeep.

Frank also queried why Akpabio hadn't investigated this expenditure or proposed selling older aircraft to fund new acquisitions, rather than awaiting costly executive requests.

In a cautionary note, Frank referenced recent uprisings in Senegal and ongoing protests in Kenya, warning of potential repercussions if legislative actions continue to disregard public interests and welfare.
