Former Senate President and prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) figure, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, has left the opposition party to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Anyim announced his defection to the APC during an event in Abakaliki, where APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje welcomed several high-profile individuals into the party in Ebonyi State on July 13.
Anyim, who served as Secretary to the Government of the Federation under President Goodluck Jonathan, also participated in the PDP's 2022 presidential primary, securing only 14 votes.
He previously represented the Ebonyi South Senatorial District from 1999 to 2003 as a PDP member and was elected President of the Senate during his tenure.
