Francis Obinna Nwaubani Appointed Acting DG of Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State

Governor Alex Otti has appointed Francis Obinna Nwaubani as the new Acting Director General of the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia State (BCA), following the compulsory retirement of Mrs. Esther Agu Anyanwu.

Mrs. Anyanwu, who served as Acting DG since the departure of Hyacinth Okoli, was previously the Director of Finance at BCA. Her retirement was confirmed through a circular issued by the Head of Service of Abia State, Kalu Boniface, dated July 30, 2024. The circular stated that Mrs. Anyanwu’s retirement would take effect from July 31, 2024.

The circular read in part: “I am directed to refer to the above subject and convey the directive of His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, the Executive Governor of Abia State for you to proceed on compulsory retirement with effect from the 31st of July 2024.”

Nwaubani, who was selected from the Department of News and Current Affairs, emerged as the top candidate in a recent interview for the position. He will now lead the BCA, which includes both radio and television stations, during a period marked by transmission issues over the past two weeks.

In a statement to journalists, Nwaubani expressed his gratitude for the appointment: “I am humbled. Thanks for all your good wishes and felicitations. I seek your continued prayers and support in facing the significant challenges ahead.”

As Nwaubani steps into his new role, he is expected to address the ongoing transmission problems and steer the BCA towards improved operations.
