Enugu, Nigeria - The Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has highlighted Simon Ekpa, a pro-Biafra self-determination advocate, as a critical security risk in the South East region. During a meeting on Saturday with the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence at the Lion Building, Government House, Enugu, Governor Mbah urged the lawmakers to begin the process of repatriating Ekpa.
Governor Mbah described Ekpa, who is reportedly a fugitive, as responsible for tarnishing the reputation and dignity of the Igbo people. He also accused Ekpa of orchestrating violent attacks on civilians and security personnel. Emphasizing the importance of security in his administration, Mbah noted that addressing regional security issues, such as the disruptive “Sit-at-home” orders, has been a primary focus.
He expressed frustration over the Finnish Government's continued harboring of Ekpa, given the detrimental effects of his actions on Nigeria. Mbah stressed that Ekpa's influence over the youth through psychological manipulation is particularly concerning.
Ahmed Satomi, Chairman of the visiting House of Representatives Committee, acknowledged their oversight mission in Enugu State. He praised Governor Mbah for his administration's significant achievements in addressing security challenges and other governance areas.
