Veteran Nollywood actress turned politician, Hilda Dokubo, has firmly denied claims that she was suspended from the Labour Party (LP) in Rivers State. Dokubo, who serves as the LP’s chairperson in Rivers, was reportedly suspended on Thursday by the party’s ward executive committee over alleged financial misconduct.
In a viral video posted on Instagram, Dokubo refuted the suspension reports, stating, "I was never suspended. Everyone mentioned in that publication is not a Labour Party member. The LP maintains a register and knows all its members, especially in Asari-Toru community."
She further alleged, "These are PDP boys following the orders of their master. So, the question is why? I have worked in Nollywood for over 30 years without any blemish or scandal. I have worked with international organizations for 10 years, and not once was there an accusation of me taking anything. My work is built on integrity and honour, and these are thoroughly investigated before any job is offered."
Dokubo continued, "When they say you venture into politics, you enter murky waters. This is corruption pushing back. That’s why I’m making this broadcast. To my supporters, we are currently revalidating membership and registering new members to strengthen our wards. When you refuse bribes, they threaten you, and if you stand your ground, they will try to find a way to hurt you."
She emphasized, "I was never suspended. I have never had any dealings with money. We do not have money. I am the chairperson of the party in Rivers State, not a financial secretary or treasurer, and I’m not even an executive of Ward 3. They clearly got it wrong."
