Israeli Military Intercepts Missile from Yemen After Airstrikes on Houthi Targets

Early Sunday, the Israeli military intercepted a missile fired from Yemen, hours after conducting airstrikes on Houthi targets in response to a deadly drone strike on Tel Aviv. This escalation marks the first direct Israeli response to Houthi attacks during its nine-month conflict with Hamas.

The airstrikes targeted Hodeidah, a key Houthi stronghold in Yemen, killing six and injuring 83, according to Yemen's Health Ministry. Houthi leaders condemned the attacks, accusing Israel of targeting Yemen’s economy.

The Israeli military confirmed using dozens of aircraft, including F-15 and F-35 warplanes. The strike was described as one of the most complex and long-distance operations undertaken by Israel.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant vowed continued action where necessary. The Houthis, backed by Iran, warned that the strikes would only strengthen their resolve to support Gaza.

This conflict adds to Israel's ongoing battles with Hezbollah in Lebanon and increases fears of a broader regional war.
