In a surprising twist, both Jimmy Kimmel and John Mulaney have decided not to host the 2025 Oscars. The news was confirmed by Us Weekly on July 30, following Kimmel's previous hosting duties for the 2023 and 2024 ceremonies.
Kimmel, who has hosted the Oscars four times, chose to step away from the role this year. Meanwhile, Mulaney, who had been awaiting Kimmel’s decision before finalizing his own, also opted out. Mulaney has never hosted the Oscars but presented at this year's event and has hosted the Governors Awards.
The Oscars are set to take place on March 2, 2025. Academy CEO Bill Kramer had previously praised both Kimmel and Mulaney, suggesting they were strong candidates for the role. With their decisions, the search for next year's host continues.
