Israel Strikes Beirut, Targeting Hezbollah Commander Over Deadly Golan Heights Attack

In a recent escalation of regional tensions, Israel has executed a targeted strike in Beirut, Lebanon, aimed at a Hezbollah commander allegedly responsible for a deadly attack in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant condemned Hezbollah, stating that the group had "crossed the red line" in a social media announcement shortly after the Israeli military confirmed the strike.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the operation was conducted to address the commander linked to the recent murder of children in Majdal Shams and other civilian casualties. Lebanese state news agency NNA reported that the attack involved a drone deploying three missiles. This strike followed reports by Hezbollah-run Al Manar TV of a significant explosion in Beirut's southern suburbs, a known Hezbollah stronghold.

The offensive comes in response to a rocket attack on a soccer field in Majdal Shams earlier this week, which tragically claimed the lives of 12 children and injured 44 others. The incident has heightened concerns of a potential broader conflict in the region.
