Lagos Commissioner Responds to Former Governorship Candidate's Flooding Concerns

The Lagos Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has addressed the comments made by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the former Labour Party governorship candidate in the 2023 General Election, regarding the causes of flooding in the state.

Rhodes-Vivour, in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, shared a video showing a canal in Lekki Phase 1 overgrown with weeds, which impedes the flow of rainwater. He questioned whether it is the responsibility of the citizens or the government to clear such canals.

"Here is a canal in Lekki overgrown with weeds that disrupts the free flow of water. As I always say, it is far easier to clear canals than it is to demolish buildings," he wrote.
