The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has responded to the recent fuel shortages and long queues in Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), attributing the disruptions to issues encountered during the discharge operations of several fuel vessels.
In a statement released on July 27, Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer at NNPC Ltd., clarified that the current fuel supply tightness was caused by operational difficulties with a few vessels. These issues have led to noticeable shortages and increased wait times at fuel stations.
Soneye assured the public that NNPC Ltd. is actively working with relevant stakeholders to address the operational setbacks and expedite the resolution of the supply challenges. The company is committed to restoring normal fuel distribution as swiftly as possible.
Efforts are ongoing to ensure that the disruption is resolved and that the supply chain returns to its regular efficiency. NNPC Ltd. urges consumers to remain patient as the situation is being rectified.
