The leadership of Orluzurumee Youth Assembly (OYA), the apex socio-cultural youth organization representing the 12 local government areas of Orlu Senatorial District, has expressed disappointment with Senator Osita Izunaso's first year in office.
In an open letter responding to the Senator's statements during a town hall meeting, Emejuru Thaddeus, the National President of OYA, acknowledged Izunaso's efforts in advocating for the creation of Orlu State through a motion in the National Assembly. However, he highlighted significant shortcomings in Izunaso's legislative responsibilities.
Thaddeus noted that despite being in office for a year, Senator Izunaso has not addressed critical issues such as the severe erosion problems affecting communities like Ideato-Umuchima, which have displaced many residents. The failure to prioritize these issues in the National Assembly was strongly criticized by Thaddeus, who deemed it a serious discredit to the Senator.
Furthermore, the OYA leader criticized Izunaso's purported empowerment programs, particularly for youth, describing them as below expectations. Thaddeus pointed out the absence of well-planned medical outreach programs, visible scholarship schemes, and the non-fulfillment of other promised initiatives.
"We urge you to step up and focus on delivering tangible democratic dividends to the people of Orlu Zone. Your performance in the remaining years of your tenure will be closely monitored, and we expect significant improvements," the letter emphasized.
