Rivers Police Hunt for Killers of Vigilante Operative in Igwuruta

Operatives of the Rivers Police Command are intensively searching the Igwuruta community in the Ikwerre Local Government Area for the assailants responsible for the murder of a vigilante operative from the ONELGA Security Planning Advisory Committee (OSPAC), identified only as Prince.

Prince was fatally shot on Wednesday night by unidentified gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, in the Igwuruta community.

Reports indicate that Prince, along with other OSPAC members, had responded to a distress call about a kidnapping incident. Upon arrival, they were ambushed by the gunmen, who opened fire. Prince was killed in the attack, while his colleagues managed to escape.

The incident has caused widespread panic in the community, with residents fleeing for safety.

The body of the deceased has since been taken to an undisclosed mortuary.

SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway.
