Video: Terror Leader Bello Turji Accuses Ex-Governor Matawalle of Complicity in Terrorism

Bello Turji, a notorious terror leader, has surfaced in a video from his hideout, accusing the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, of supporting terrorism in Nigeria. These claims, which PM NEWS has not independently verified, point to a historical connection between banditry and Zamfara State, which reached its peak during Matawalle's tenure as governor.

Turji alleges that the insecurity plaguing the country had the full backing of the former Zamfara State government. He claims to possess evidence supporting these accusations and asserts that Matawalle's administration was complicit in fostering terrorism in the region.

“This government has been complicit in backing terrorism. There are individuals from Shinkafi, Zurmi, and Issah who cannot deny this video,” Turji stated. He suggests that many Nigerians, particularly those outside Zamfara, might be unaware of the region's issues but promises to provide names, details, and evidence to the federal government for investigation.

Turji further claimed, “The past Government of Zamfara, under Matawalle, facilitated negotiations but also sabotaged efforts. There were multiple negotiations, but the dialogue did not succeed because everyone in Shinkafi and Isah knows the truth. The late Dillu, for example, was chased away by me because he refused to allow peace to reign in Shinkafi.”

According to Turji, the government invited armed individuals to the government house, and these individuals possessed more than 200 rifles. He alleges that the government’s actions in handling these situations were complicit in the ongoing violence.

“When we killed Dillu, Kabiru Maniya should explain where the federal or the Zamfara and Sokoto state governments had a dialogue with him to drop his arms. Bashari Maniya should also tell us where he hid his weapons. Everyone knows that they have over 300 rifles, of which I took 30 from them. Let them come out and tell the truth about what is going on,” Turji added.

Turji accused certain individuals in Sokoto city, including Malam Murtala Asada, of being aware of other bandits operating freely in the city. He stated that these individuals, despite their claims of repentance, still possess large caches of weapons and continue to coordinate attacks.

“And whenever bandits want to attack any location, they will advise the security to vacate areas in Sokoto to allow the attacks to take place. If I am lying, the people of Mai Lalle should come out and deny that they are not constantly being attacked,” Turji said. He accused individuals from the Gonbro forest enclave and others of orchestrating attacks in various regions while living freely in Sokoto.

Turji concluded by calling on the government to take responsibility for some of the atrocities being committed and to stop falsely accusing him. He asserted that he is currently living peacefully in Shinkafi and is not responsible for the kidnappings and attacks around Sokoto, Achida, and Goronyo.

“Let the government come out and take responsibility for some of the atrocities being committed and stop falsely accusing others,” Turji emphasized.
