Tragic Night: Groom Shot at Wedding Reception in Failed Robbery

A couple in Missouri experienced a tragic turn on their wedding night when masked gunmen invaded their backyard reception and shot the groom in the head during an attempted robbery, leaving the bride, guests, and family in shock.

Manuel and Dulce Gonzalez, who had been together for over a decade and recently celebrated their marriage with around 50 loved ones at their St. Louis home, were targeted by armed assailants late Friday night, as reported by Fox 2 Now on Monday, July 1.

The gunmen, wearing ski masks, barged into the celebration demanding money from guests. Amidst the chaos, one gunman shot Manuel Gonzalez without warning, despite the lack of resistance or attempts to fight back from the guests. The assailants fled the scene empty-handed, leaving behind devastation for the newlyweds and their guests.

"They took nothing, yet they took everything from us," expressed Yaribeth Peña, the bride's sister, in an interview with Fox 2 Now.

Manuel Gonzalez, aged 32, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition following the shooting. His family has reported that although he has shown some movement, his condition remains precarious.

The family suspects that the gunmen were teenagers, based on their height difference. Ring Doorbell footage captured from the couple's home has provided some clues to the authorities, but as of now, no arrests have been made.

Peña, deeply affected by the incident, described her sister as devastated and worried about her husband's condition. She emphasized Manuel Gonzalez's qualities as a devoted father and hardworking man, underscoring that he did not deserve such a senseless act of violence.

With the suspects still at large, the family is urging anyone with information to come forward, hoping for justice while grappling with the trauma inflicted by the brutal attack.
