YouTube sensation MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has publicly addressed the recent grooming allegations against his long-time collaborator, Ava Kris Tyson. Donaldson expressed his shock and revulsion at the claims, emphasizing that he has taken decisive action to distance himself and his brand from Tyson.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, Donaldson denounced Tyson's alleged behavior as "unacceptable." He revealed that he had swiftly moved to remove Tyson from his company and any affiliations with his channel, stating, “Over the last few days, I’ve become aware of the serious allegations of Ava Tyson’s behavior online and I am disgusted and opposed to such unacceptable acts.”
Donaldson also mentioned that he had engaged an independent third party to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations. He pledged to base any further actions on the findings of this investigation, asserting, “I will allow the independent investigators the necessary time to conduct a comprehensive investigation and will take any further actions based on their findings.”
The controversy erupted last month when a group of YouTubers accused Tyson of inappropriate communications with a 13-year-old when she was 20. The scrutiny intensified as online users analyzed messages between Tyson and the minor, which reportedly included references to explicit content.
Tyson, who has denied the grooming accusations, posted an apology on X, expressing regret for her past social media activity and any offense caused. She wrote, “I humbly apologise to anyone I have hurt with my unacceptable social media posts, past actions, and to those who may feel betrayed by how I used to act online.”
Supporters of Tyson, including the minor involved, LavaGS, have defended her, claiming the exchanges were not grooming but rather “edgy jokes.”
The situation has been further complicated by ongoing harassment Tyson has faced from some quarters since her transition. Donaldson has previously defended Tyson against transphobic attacks, emphasizing his commitment to supporting her through these challenges.
