Cora Schumacher Speaks Out on Feeling 'Used' After Ralf Schumacher Comes Out as Gay

Cora Schumacher, the ex-wife of former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher, has expressed her feelings of being "used" following his recent revelation of his sexuality. Ralf, the younger brother of legendary F1 racer Michael Schumacher, announced in July that he is in a relationship with his French business manager, Etienne.

Cora and Ralf were married for 14 years and have a son, David, who is also pursuing a career in racing. The couple divorced in 2015. Cora disclosed that she discovered Ralf's relationship through social media, which she found deeply hurtful and manipulative.

"I wish Ralf had included me or at least informed me about his decision. It would have been a sign of respect," Cora told Der Spiegel, as reported by Marca. She explained that during Ralf's F1 career, there were persistent rumors about his sexuality. Despite her attempts to get clarity, Ralf always denied the rumors, even suggesting that Cora needed psychological help for questioning him.

"When he announced it, it felt like a stab in the heart," Cora said. "Coming out affects those around you, including the ex-wife with whom you had a child. Today, I feel used during our marriage. I feel like I’ve wasted my best years. I ask myself many questions. Was he honest with me? And there's something even more important on my mind: Did he love me? I trusted him blindly, and that's why his word was law for me."

Ralf Schumacher, 49, has reportedly been in a relationship with Etienne for two years, having met in Monaco, according to actress and close friend Carmen Geiss. Their son David, 22, has publicly supported his father, expressing happiness that Ralf has found someone who makes him feel comfortable and secure.

David shared on social media, "I am very happy that you have finally found someone with whom you really feel comfortable and secure, no matter if they are a man or a woman. I am 100 percent behind you, Dad, and wish you all the best and congratulations."

Cora and Ralf were married in 2001, had their son in the same year, and spent 14 years together. Cora, a former GQ cover star, continues to be a prominent television personality in Germany.
