Nigerians have expressed their opinions on social media following the recent hike in passport fees announced by the Nigeria Immigration Service.
On Wednesday night, August 21, the Nigeria Immigration Service issued a statement confirming an increase in the cost of obtaining a passport. According to the new rates, the price for a 32-page passport booklet with a five-year validity has been raised from N35,000 to N50,000. Similarly, the cost of a 64-page passport booklet with a ten-year validity has jumped from N70,000 to N100,000.
The statement also clarified that the fees for passport issuance remain unchanged for Nigerians living abroad.
