In a significant development, police have arrested four suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of Johnny Wactor, best known for his role on "General Hospital." The arrests were made in Los Angeles, with the suspects ranging in age from 18 to 22. Three of them were booked on murder charges, while the fourth was booked as an accessory.
According to a news release from the LAPD, officers executed search warrants early Thursday morning, which led to the arrests and the recovery of additional evidence. However, no further details have been provided regarding the evidence or the circumstances of the arrests.
Wactor, 37, was shot and killed on May 25 after allegedly interrupting thieves attempting to steal the catalytic converter from his car in the early morning hours. Police reported that Wactor had left work at a rooftop bar with a coworker when he encountered three men who had hoisted his car. One of the men reportedly fired at him without provocation, resulting in his death.
The suspects fled the scene in a car, and Wactor was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The county medical examiner determined that Wactor died from a gunshot wound to the chest, ruling the death a homicide.
In August, police sought the public's assistance in identifying the suspects, releasing surveillance images of the individuals and their getaway car.
Originally from South Carolina, Wactor appeared on "General Hospital" from 2020 to 2022, portraying the character Brando Corbin in over 160 episodes. His acting credits also include roles in "Station 19," "NCIS," "Westworld," and the video game "Call of Duty: Vanguard."
Following Wactor's death, his agent David Shaul described him as someone who "always kept his chin up and kept striving for the best he could be."
At a recent news conference, his mother, Scarlett Wactor, expressed the profound grief of losing her son. "Grief is my constant companion," she said. "I can't wish him happy birthday on August 31 – he would have been 38. I can't ask if he's coming home for Christmas. I can't ask how his day went."
