A pro-PDP group known as PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress has claimed that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, is orchestrating a media campaign against Senator Adolphus Wabara, Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT).
In a press briefing held in Umuahia, Abia State, the group also accused Wike of being behind the ongoing political turmoil in Rivers State.
Emeka “Yellow” Ikpegbu, the National Coordinator of PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress, criticized Wike's response to the recent visit of PDP BoT members to Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Ikpegbu argued that any media campaign against Wabara and other BoT members regarding their visit to the Governor would be ineffective.
The group expressed support for the call by Niger Delta leader Chief Edwin Clark for Wike’s expulsion from the PDP. Ikpegbu emphasized that the BoT members' visit was aimed at bolstering the party's position in Rivers State and across the nation.
“The visit received strong backing from PDP progressives nationwide. Wike appears to believe he can still exert control over the state after eight years in power,” Ikpegbu stated.
He called on other PDP stakeholders, especially governors, to rally behind the BoT members in their efforts to revitalize the party and prepare for a decisive victory in the 2027 elections.
The group accused Wike of failing in his attempt to manipulate Governor Fubara and urged PDP leaders to combat godfatherism within the party, which they see as a major threat to its unity and democratic processes.
