A U.S. Border Patrol agent has been charged with multiple misdemeanors after allegedly coercing women to expose their breasts during the admissions process into the country, according to federal authorities.
Shane Millan, 53, faces four counts of deprivation of rights under color of law, as announced by federal prosecutors in the Northern District of New York.
Millan is accused of violating the constitutional rights of four women by ordering them to reveal their bare chests during virtual processing sessions related to their entry into the U.S. According to prosecutors, he told three women to expose their breasts entirely over webcam and instructed a fourth woman to partially uncover her breasts while keeping her bra on.
Prosecutors allege that Millan made these demands for his personal gratification, misleading the women by falsely claiming the searches were legitimate.
Millan was arraigned on Thursday, August 22, before a federal magistrate judge in Syracuse and has been released pending trial.
