Former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole publicly apologized to Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin, during a speech at Igbinedion’s 90th birthday celebration on September 14 in Benin, Edo State.
In his heartfelt message, Oshiomhole expressed gratitude for Igbinedion's support during his gubernatorial campaign, acknowledging that he might not have won the election without the elder statesman's backing. The former governor used the occasion to seek forgiveness for any past wrongs, both intentional and unintentional.
"I have always sought a chance to apologize to the Esama of the universe for any missteps I may have taken," Oshiomhole said. "On your 90th birthday, I ask for your forgiveness and publicly recognize the critical support you provided me in 2007 and 2008."
Oshiomhole’s public apology is seen as a significant step in repairing his relationship with Igbinedion, a key figure in Edo State politics.
