Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed Responds to Wike’s Threats, Reaffirms State's Strength and Unity

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has responded to the recent threats made by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), stating that Bauchi is well-equipped to handle any challenges. This comes after Wike, during a recent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) congress in Rivers State, warned governors supporting Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara of potential consequences. Wike and Fubara have been at odds for months.

Governor Mohammed, while hosting members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) in Bauchi on Tuesday, September 17, addressed the remarks. He said, “We are together; nobody can put fire in Bauchi. We have volumes of water that will quench the fire – even my friend (Wike) who made that comment, it is because he is annoyed, but it’s not personal."

Mohammed emphasized the importance of leadership and unity, particularly within the PDP, adding that despite the crises within political parties, it is essential to work according to the rule of law and respect for others. He praised the PDP’s role in Nigeria’s development, saying, "Our party has pedigree, and most of the development in this country was done by the PDP. When PDP left, nothing was done."

His comments come as part of an ongoing effort to maintain peace and stability within the PDP amidst internal conflicts.
