CAN Condemns Viral Testimony of Angelic Assistance During Exam

 

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has criticized a viral testimony from a member of the Lord's Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, who claimed an angel helped her during a military promotional exam. The woman, in a video circulating on social media, recounted how an elderly man, dressed in white, appeared during her exam and provided answers to questions she couldn’t answer.

She described how, after completing the career-related questions, she struggled with the current affairs section, specifically one asking for the names and capitals of 10 Francophone countries. The woman said she invoked her faith, repeatedly declaring, “I am a Chosen!” when an old man appeared by her side and began dictating the answers. The incident allegedly ended when invigilators noticed something suspicious and pulled off her apron, causing the angel to disappear. However, she claimed the man reappeared once she put the apron back on, guiding her through the rest of the questions.

Lagos CAN Chairman, Stephen Adegbite, condemned the testimony as baseless and accused the church of irresponsibility for allowing such claims to be shared. Adegbite said, “Testimonies must be verified, especially those that seem outrageous.” He expressed disbelief over the claim, referring to it as “foolish talk” and suggesting it was unfit for a church audience.

Adegbite further emphasized that the church should screen testimonies before allowing them to be shared publicly. He stated that certain stories should be dismissed entirely, saying, “That type of testimony should be shared with monkeys, not humans.”

The CAN national body is set to discuss the issue in its upcoming meeting on September 28, focusing on the spreading of unverified and misleading testimonies in churches.
