Edo First Lady Refutes Claims of Presidential Influence in Upcoming Election

Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, the First Lady of Edo State, has dismissed allegations that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu plans to use federal power to influence the upcoming gubernatorial election in favor of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In an interview on an online television platform, Mrs. Obaseki addressed the claims, stating, "President Tinubu is smarter and wiser. He is far above such tactics. I also want to commend former President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment to democracy, using federal might to protect voters, not to manipulate election outcomes."

Mrs. Obaseki emphasized that President Tinubu, known for his reformist policies during his tenure as Lagos State governor, would not compromise democratic values. She highlighted his dedication to good governance and continuity, noting that Edo State has made significant progress under Governor Godwin Obaseki’s leadership and earned international recognition for its development.

"As the father of the nation, President Tinubu would not support any actions that could destabilize a well-governed state. If other governors follow the paths set in Edo and Lagos, we will one day wake up to a better Nigeria," Mrs. Obaseki concluded.
