Miley Cyrus is facing legal trouble as Tempo Music Investments has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against her, claiming that her hit song "Flowers" borrows elements from Bruno Mars' 2013 hit, "When I Was Your Man."
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Tempo Music, which owns part of the copyright for Mars' track, alleges that "Flowers" shares significant similarities in melody, harmony, and chord progressions with "When I Was Your Man." The lawsuit also suggests that certain lyrics in "Flowers" closely resemble those in Bruno's song.
Tempo Music argues that the resemblance is so notable that they believe Miley "intentionally copied" the chart-topping track. The company further claims that "Flowers," despite its commercial success and Grammy win, would not have been created without the influence of Bruno Mars' song.
In the lawsuit, Tempo Music is seeking financial compensation and is asking for Miley to be prohibited from performing or distributing "Flowers." Interestingly, Bruno Mars himself is not named as a plaintiff in the case.
