Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has made a bold statement, declaring that he will not compromise his integrity or offer blind loyalty, even in the face of criticism. This comes after FCT Minister Nyesom Wike accused him of disloyalty.
Governor Fubara made the remark on Sunday, September 29, during an inter-denominational thanksgiving service held at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Port Harcourt, as part of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day celebrations.
Fubara emphasized his commitment to standing by his principles, stating, "I belong to the school of thought that if I have to stand alone on the side of right, I will. I don't need anyone to stand with me." He further stressed that he would not sacrifice his "kidney or liver" in the name of loyalty, adding, "If that is the only reason for me to be loyal, I won’t be. I will not do the wrong thing. I will always stand for what is right."
This statement comes amid a growing rift between Fubara and Wike, with loyalty at the center of their conflict. Governor Fubara’s remarks indicate his refusal to compromise his values, even in the face of political pressures.
