Popular activist and social media personality, Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has explained why he will not respond to an invitation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations involving officials of the agency.
In a recent video, VeryDarkMan played an audio recording, allegedly of social media figure Bobrisky, in which Bobrisky claimed he was asked to pay N15 million to have a money laundering charge dropped. Following this, the EFCC issued a letter inviting both VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky to its Lagos office to assist in investigating the bribery claims.
However, on Wednesday, VeryDarkMan refused the invitation, stating that he doesn’t live in Lagos and is uncertain about what might happen if he travels there. Instead, he called on the EFCC to invite them to its headquarters in Abuja.
He further criticized the EFCC, accusing the agency of not ensuring that Bobrisky remained in prison after his conviction. He urged the EFCC to conduct an internal investigation into its officers involved in Bobrisky’s case before calling him in.
"You’re asking me to come to Lagos, but the EFCC’s headquarters is in Abuja. That doesn’t make sense. Bring Bobrisky to Abuja and carry out your investigation there," VeryDarkMan stated.
He also expressed concern about potential risks, saying, "I don’t have N15 million, I have no godfathers, and I don’t want to be framed. I don’t trust the EFCC, and I won’t go to Lagos."
Bobrisky has since denied paying N15 million to settle the charges and labeled the audio as fake.
