Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has denied claims made by social media personality Bobrisky that he provided legal help during Bobrisky’s time in prison.
According to reports , Bobrisky served three months in jail after pleading guilty to naira mutilation charges, following his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He was released on August 5, 2024.
On September 24, 2024, a leaked audio recording surfaced, allegedly revealing that Bobrisky claimed Falz and his father, Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), helped him get the EFCC to drop money laundering charges. The recording was leaked by popular activist and social critic, Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan.
Falz, through his legal representatives at Falana & Falana’s Chambers, has firmly denied these claims. He clarified that Bobrisky only contacted him to request financial assistance of N3 million to secure a spot in the VIP section of the Correctional Centre, not for legal aid.
In a letter that has since gone viral on social media, Falz also accused VeryDarkMan of recklessly making multiple allegations against him without reaching out for clarification. The rapper emphasized that he had no involvement in legal discussions regarding Bobrisky’s case.
