President Bola Tinubu officially appointed Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) during a ceremony held at the Council Chambers of the Aso Rock Villa on Monday, September 30. This event followed the Senate's confirmation of her nomination the previous week.
Justice Kekere-Ekun, who has now become the 23rd CJN, is notable for being the second woman ever to hold this prestigious position in Nigeria's history. She has been serving in an acting capacity since August, after the retirement of her predecessor, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, marking a significant moment in Nigeria’s judicial history. Clips from the swearing-in ceremony were shared publicly, showcasing this historic appointment.
