Nigerian football stars Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi have made their return to Kano Pillars on short-term deals for the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Both players were spotted at the team's training ground on Thursday, October 3, as they prepared for their upcoming home match against Sunshine Stars in the NPFL's fifth match day.
Kano Pillars confirmed the news on their social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), stating: “Ahmed Musa, Shehu Abdullahi, Nazir Laja, and the rest of the squad trained ahead of NPFL 2024/25 Matchday 5 clash against Sunshine Stars this weekend.”
This marks the third time that the 31-year-old Ahmed Musa has rejoined the Pillars, having previously played for the club between 2009-2010 and again in 2021. Shehu Abdullahi, on the other hand, will be making his second appearance for the team after his initial stint in 2012.
Musa recently terminated his contract with Turkish club Sivasspor in February, while Abdullahi has been a free agent since January 2023. Their return to Kano Pillars comes as a boost for the former NPFL champions.
Speaking about Musa’s return, the head of competitions for the NPFL, Sunday Obaseki, confirmed the player's eligibility for registration in the league. “Yes, he can be registered. Ahmed Musa will be on the Transfer Matching System, so he won’t have a problem,” Obaseki stated.
