Albino Burmese Python Discovered in Passenger's Luggage at Uzbekistan Airport

Customs officers at Tashkent airport in Uzbekistan were in for a surprise when they discovered a massive albino Burmese python in a passenger’s carry-on luggage. The shocking incident occurred at the 'Gishtkuprik' border customs post on September 28.

Footage captured the moment when security personnel asked the traveler to open his bag after it passed through an X-ray machine. To their astonishment, a 10-foot-long python, curled up and asleep, was found inside. The passenger was immediately arrested.

In a statement, the Tashkent Customs Department explained: “A three-meter-long snake was uncovered in a passenger’s bag entering from a neighboring country. The snake had not been declared to customs officials either verbally or in the customs declaration form.”

The snake, believed to be a tiger albino python, is native to South and Southeast Asia and is listed as a protected species under the International Red Book. The passenger failed to provide the necessary CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species) permit for the animal’s import into Uzbekistan.

The python has since been handed over to Tashkent Zoo, where specialists confirmed it to be in healthy condition. An investigation into the smuggling attempt is currently underway.
