Boris Johnson Reveals Queen Elizabeth II Was Diagnosed with Bone Cancer Before Her Passing

Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has revealed in his upcoming memoir that Queen Elizabeth II was diagnosed with bone cancer before her death. This revelation comes as part of his reflections on his time in office and his interactions with the late monarch.

The official cause of Queen Elizabeth II’s death on September 8, 2022, was attributed to old age, which generally reflects the natural decline of bodily functions due to aging. However, Johnson's memoir sheds light on a more serious underlying condition, stating that the Queen had been diagnosed with bone cancer during the final years of her life.

Johnson shared that he had known about the Queen's illness for over a year before her passing. He recounted a conversation with the Queen’s private secretary, Edward Young, before his final meeting with her at Balmoral Castle, where he was informed of her deteriorating health. The former Prime Minister described their last encounter, just days before her death, in his memoir, which is set to be published soon.

This isn't the first time the topic of the Queen's health has come to light. Royal biographer Gyles Brandreth had previously written in his 2022 book, Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait, that there were rumors about the Queen suffering from a rare form of bone marrow cancer, known as myeloma. Brandreth suggested that this diagnosis could explain the Queen’s fatigue, weight loss, and mobility issues in the final year of her life.

Despite these revelations, Buckingham Palace has never released any detailed medical records regarding Queen Elizabeth II’s health. Her death, officially recorded as due to old age, remains the only public explanation from the royal family.

Following Queen Elizabeth II’s passing, her son, King Charles III, ascended the throne. It has since been reported that King Charles has been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.
