A 26-year-old British influencer tragically lost his life in Spain on Sunday, October 13, after falling from the Puente de Castilla-La Mancha bridge, one of the tallest in the country, standing at 192 meters high. The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 am as the man attempted to scale the bridge.
Accompanied by a 24-year-old British companion, the influencer fell from a height of about 40 to 50 meters, which is roughly a quarter of the bridge's total height. Emergency responders, including national police, local firefighters, and paramedics, were quickly called to the scene, but unfortunately, they found the influencer dead upon arrival. The area where the fall occurred has since been cordoned off by police.
A spokesperson for the Spanish police stated that the case remains under investigation, with the exact cause of the fall still unclear. Authorities have indicated that the local court will continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
A source close to the investigation revealed that both the deceased and his companion were climbing the bridge without harnesses or any safety gear. A passing motorist spotted the climbers and raised the alarm. The companion, who survived the fall, was reportedly in shock and initially unable to speak. He has since been released from police custody and is not expected to face criminal charges, though local authorities may consider issuing a sanction for the illegal climb.
Macarena Muñoz, a local councillor, confirmed that climbing the bridge is strictly prohibited. "We have made it clear on several occasions that it's not something that can be done under any circumstances," she said.
The identity of the deceased influencer has not yet been released to respect his privacy. The Puente de Castilla-La Mancha bridge, located about 90 minutes from Madrid, is not open to the public for climbing due to its complex and dangerous structure.
