Authorities in Sterling, Colorado, have charged a 56-year-old man, Thomas Gallegos, with multiple offenses, including attempted kidnapping, after he allegedly attempted to abduct an eight-year-old girl from her bedroom while wearing a clown mask.
According to a recent press release from the Sterling Police Department, the incident occurred early on October 15, around 2:30 AM. Police responded to reports of a home invasion and an attempted child abduction in the 300 block of Walnut Street.
The arrest affidavit reveals that Gallegos is believed to have entered and exited the home through an unlocked back door. He has been charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, second-degree attempted kidnapping, third-degree assault, and child abuse.
The police continue to investigate the situation and have urged anyone with additional information to come forward.
