Dr. Dre is firing back at his former psychiatrist, Dr. Charles Sophy, after the doctor filed a lawsuit alleging that the music mogul threatened him following attempts to mediate Dre’s contentious divorce from his estranged wife, Nicole Young.
In a legal letter obtained by TMZ, Dre's attorney, Howard King, accused Dr. Sophy of malpractice and breaching his professional duty of trust. The letter, which was originally sent in February 2023, claims that Sophy acted maliciously to "slander" Dre and undermine his relationship with his son. King contends that the psychiatrist encouraged the child to turn against his father amid the divorce proceedings.
According to King, Dr. Sophy was working as a mediator between Dre and Nicole during the divorce but allegedly took actions that favored Nicole, causing significant harm to Dre's relationship with his son. This escalation in legal disputes follows Dr. Sophy's $10 million lawsuit against Dre, in which he claims to have received abusive and threatening messages in retaliation for his involvement in the divorce.
While Dr. Sophy positions himself as a victim in this scenario, Dre’s legal team is firmly maintaining their allegations of professional misconduct against the psychiatrist. As the legal battle unfolds, both parties are standing their ground, asserting their respective claims in court.
