Eguavoen Prepares Super Eagles for AFCON Qualifiers Against Libya

Augustine Eguavoen, the interim coach of the Super Eagles, has expressed his determination to treat the upcoming double-header against Libya in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as a “World Cup final.” The three-time African champions will face Libya in a crucial match on October 13 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, followed by an away game four days later.

In an interview with Brila FM, Eguavoen emphasized the importance of approaching the matches with intensity and focus. "We play against Libya back-to-back, and we will take the same approach we had for the previous games. Game three (against Libya) is a World Cup final," he stated. He acknowledged the challenges ahead, saying, "No game will be easy, but we will do everything possible to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians."

Eguavoen also called on fans to remain patient and supportive of the team. "We hope to have the full complement of the team and for the boys to stay injury-free. We have players who can rule the world," he added, conveying his confidence in the squad's capabilities as they prepare for the important fixtures.
