Former Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor recently expressed his admiration for Nigerian football icon Nwankwo Kanu, describing him as both a "big brother" and a "best friend."
Adebayor revealed that Kanu, a former Arsenal star who famously wore the No. 25 jersey, greatly influenced his decision to join the Gunners. Reflecting on his journey, Adebayor shared with BBC, "My idol was Nwankwo Kanu, so signing for Arsenal, wearing his number 25 jersey, and even using the same locker as him was a huge achievement for me."
Adebayor also emphasized the lasting bond between them, saying, "Today, he is my big brother and best friend; he guides me on whether I’m on the right or wrong path."
He went on to recall his standout 2008 season, remarking, "In 2008, I was unstoppable. Being recognized as Africa’s best player is an honor I’ll never forget."
