Kennedy Ohaneye has publicly addressed her recent dismissal as Nigeria's Minister of Women Affairs by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. On Wednesday, October 23, Tinubu announced the removal of five ministers, including Ohaneye, while appointing seven new officials to various ministerial positions.
Ohaneye’s departure surprised many, especially given her active role in the ministry. In a heartfelt message shared on X (formerly Twitter) on October 24, she expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the federal government.
In her statement, Ohaneye wrote, "I write to express my sincere gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It has been an honor and a privilege to contribute to the development of our Nation."
She also acknowledged the support she received from Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria, thanking her for the "invaluable guidance and support" during her time in office. "Her kindness and encouragement have been instrumental to my success," Ohaneye added.
Ohaneye concluded her message by thanking the Nigerian people for their unwavering support, stating, "Your trust and confidence in me have been a constant source of inspiration." She reaffirmed her commitment to serving the country and expressed her determination to continue contributing to its progress and prosperity.
