Liam Payne Dropped by Record Label Days Before Tragic Death

Former One Direction star Liam Payne was reportedly dropped by his record label, Universal Music, just days before his shocking death. Sources revealed that Payne’s solo career had struggled to gain traction, leading Universal to sever ties with the singer.

According to insiders, Payne had been given a significant advance by the label, which he was unable to repay. "Liam's advance was massive, and he didn’t recoup it," a source explained, adding that Payne's music career seemed to be heading in the wrong direction. His second solo album had been delayed before the label decided to cut him from their roster entirely.

Payne, who gained fame as part of One Direction, signed with Capitol Records (owned by Universal Music) in 2016 after the group went on an indefinite hiatus in 2015. However, his solo career never reached the same level of success as his bandmates.

Following news of his death, Universal Music posted a tribute to Payne on social media, expressing their grief. "We are devastated by the tragic passing of Liam Payne," the post read. "His legacy will live on through his music and the countless fans he inspired. We send our deepest condolences to Liam's family and loved ones."

The news of his departure from Universal came shortly after Payne’s PR team resigned earlier this month, leaving him without public representation. This came amid reports that Payne's ex-fiancĂ©e, Maya Henry, had initiated legal action against him, accusing him of continued contact despite their breakup.

A source close to the situation described the collapse of Payne’s career: "It’s like everything Liam had built since going solo eight years ago was crumbling. There wasn’t much left."

Liam Payne, 31, tragically passed away after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Wednesday evening. Authorities confirmed his death at the scene. Medications, including clonazepam, which is used to treat conditions like epilepsy and panic disorders, were found near him.
