Prosecutors Push to Keep Sean "Diddy" Combs Behind Bars Over Witness Tampering Fears

Federal prosecutors are intensifying their efforts to keep music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs in custody, arguing that he poses a serious threat to witnesses and alleged victims if granted bail. This comes amid an ongoing legal battle following his involvement in a 2016 assault case.

In newly filed court documents, the U.S. Attorney's Office highlights Diddy's alleged role in a violent incident at a Los Angeles hotel in March 2016. The assault, reportedly involving his former partner Cassie, took place during an event at the InterContinental Hotel. According to prosecutors, Diddy allegedly attacked the victim by punching, kicking, and attempting to drag her back to their room after throwing her to the ground. Although the victim’s name remains undisclosed, the case closely aligns with previous reports involving Cassie.

The prosecution is particularly focused on Diddy's actions immediately following the assault. Hotel security staff, who reportedly saw the incident via surveillance footage, approached Diddy. He allegedly tried to bribe one of the officers with a "stack of cash" to keep the incident quiet. Despite the guard rejecting the bribe, Diddy reportedly ordered his team to retrieve the footage, which prosecutors say "disappeared" from the hotel's servers shortly afterward.

These actions, according to prosecutors, demonstrate Diddy's attempt to obstruct justice. As a result, they are urging the court to maintain the lower court's ruling to deny him bail, emphasizing concerns that he could influence witnesses or tamper with evidence. Diddy's legal team has appealed the bail denial multiple times, but each attempt has been unsuccessful.

As the case progresses, federal authorities are pushing for Diddy to remain in custody pending trial, citing a pattern of behavior that they believe shows his willingness to evade justice.
